Turneringsutvalg sent their plan for 2012 and clubs have until Monday to comment.

In this new plan, Rugby league and rugby union are sharing the seasons with first a Rugby league championship and the NM15s after the summer.

The structure of NM15s would once again change with in 2012 only local series before a double game home and away as a substitute for a final.

Talk to your club to know more about the plan and if you do not want rugby union to become a recreational sport only!

From a small club perspective, and having seen how the larger clubs are even struggling to field a full team at all tournaments, I really don´t understand the women´s schedule at all.

Surely we should be reducing the number of Norwegian tournaments, trying to increase participation in those we have rather than having diluted tournaments with low participation. And then increasing the financial ability of players to travel abroad where they will gain more experience against a wider variety of teams.

I have some serious concerns about this schedule proposal. Maybe most importantly I struggle to se the link between NRF's development plan and the season schedule. I'd like to see some clear strategies.

That said, I personally don't see the problem running the XV series after summer as long as there is no decrease in the number of games. Given the few teams we have, a more compact XV season might actually be the way to go.

League and union should in my opinion be kept separate in the club season planning. The reality for most clubs is that the clubs EITHER focus on union OR they focus on league. That some players play both sports should not be emphasized in the season planning. The players concerned will make the right priorities on a day of colliding events...

I disagree with that, the reason for this has to be that people can play both, so they don't have to choose, ending up with two parts of noncomplete rugby at the same time, in stead of playing 1 complete, then another one afterwards.
This is the best I've seen from NRF, keep it rolling!

I'd like to play table tennis as well but it crashes with rugby games? Can we do something about it?

I dont really want to get into the league/union question right now but I think the reason why league "appears" to be growing as it is, is because they have been connecting with people/clubs who union leaders have not taken seriously enough.
On this note I would like to say that I am really happy with this years proposal since it unites the smaller and larger clubs into a common structure, where there is a natural progression to the Premiership league. At last NRF have taken the smaller clubs seriously and this will generate growth in norwegian rugby. If this had been done 4-5 years ago, then I think we would all be playing unioun now instead of being divided in union and league.

How many Union players are playing Union and League ? I guess that the percentage is very low... It would be very interested to get this number from the NRF. They have to know it since the calendar has been based on letting the possibility for players to play both league and union.

Speaking about men rugby, I see that there will be no rugby union during some of the best week-ends of may and june because of rugby league. For rugby union, that's just bad.
--
In rugby union, we will play most regional games in XV. For instance, Bergen will not have the possibility to play against a team from the East (Oslo, Blindern, ...) before the final. On the same hand, I can see that rugby league will have a complete national league... We don't have the money and the players to travel in rugby union but it seems that they have both in rugby league... Strange to me.
--
I am also really surprised to see that Bergen will be able (in less than 5 months) to build a league team. So far, there is no league team in Bergen (only on the paper...).
This team should be able to travel to Tromsø, Oslo, ... while this year and despite a good basis of players, Bergen were not able to send a team in Oslo to play a XV's game. So are we not dreaming here ?
--
About the finals, can't we get proper semi-finals and final played on one game ? Rugby is not football and even in football the final is played on one game. Moreover, it will let the possibility to the Western teams to play two different Eastern teams instead of one ?

Just a reminder: Clubs should send comments to Krissy TODAY if you want to have an opinion on the schedule - NorgesRugby is a forum for discussion, but I´m pretty sure comments here aren´t taken into account.

Maybe I should've put this in my first comment. But why I agree with this the most is the fact that small clubs who haven't got the amount of people to play two teams, one league and one union on the same weekends would have a benefit of this new schedule, so instead of a forfit they now can play with a full team. And WE are a few clubs with this problem, and I think it's great that NRF gives us this chance. The people from union can play league and league play union, hope this works out good in 2012 :)
