Norway Ladies can be proud of their performance Print

The European Rugby 7s Championship is now over, and the highlight is the good results obtained by Norway all over the weekend.

The match that will be remembered is of course the plate semi-final against Austria that was lost 10-5 after 23 minutes games in over time.

Norway might even regret the opportunities lost with too many knock on. Many times Norway were very close to score when their actions were aborted by their own mistakes. In the contrary, all Austrian attacks were stopped by Norwegian defence, and the ball was most of the time stolen by Norway.

All but two!

Austria had an advantage of making less hand mistakes than Norway, and that probably explains the final results. Also, Austria won the 5th place against Belgium. That’s another reason to be sad.

Norway end 7th of the European Championship 2011

This, on the other hand, should be source of happiness. After a disappointing first half during the last game, Norway manage to straighten up and win easily against Bulgaria.

Norway is now ranked 19th in Europe (12 teams in Division 1), and as far as we remember, Norway ladies have never been that far.

Congratulations to Norwegian Ladies!

Well done to the Norwegian ladies and their back room staff. You did us proud. I would also like to thank Norges rugby for the good coverage that was provided to keep us all up to date.
